Your Residency

Wednesday night Life Drawing Group

There are a myriad of different types of residencies out there and several have popped up in CDMX. What we are doing here is unique, because we are looking to be more inclusive for a diversity of artists at different stages in their careers. I leverage my years of experience creating unique experiences for students in college classrooms and for employers in the real world, to create connections for you here in CDMX. We work closely together to identify what it is you want to achieve from your visit to this cultural megalopolis at an affordable price point.

In the process of interviewing our visiting artists, we want to discover how you work, what type of environment will work for you, and how PRMX fits the vision. We want to know how Mexico City can elevate your experiences. Residents receive as little or as much attention as can be provided to meet your needs.

As part of the experience, we don’t want to forget where you are, so we will include as many of these as we can:

  • Museum visits
  • Gallery visits and openings
  • Taco tours
  • Cultural tours
  • Shopping trips to mercados and tiangus
  • Cultural events
  • Some meals
  • Social events
  • and more…

Let’s not forget the space you are working in as well. You will be inside the @ProyectosdeResidenciaMX Artist Residency, built-in 1912, with large gothic style church windows, lofts, & in the heart of Mexico City. We are close to Ciudadela, Metro, Mercado, Roma, Reforma & Insurgentes, bars, restaurants, cafes, shopping, and more. Our rooms are live-work studios for visiting international artists.

PRMX Visiting Artist from January 2020

Melissa McCabe came to stay with us in CDMX this past January to kick off 2020 with a creative bang. We really enjoyed her spirit and focus while here. She made some great connections. Receiving this video made me tear up. I miss our artists in residence while we are closed. Thrilled that Melissa will join un in our TheVirtualArtistsResidency.com starting now!https://www.instagram.com/macabea.paints/

This is the first suburb of the el Centro zone of CDMX. It is filled with turn of the century architecture and generations of families despite recent gentrification bringing cafes, trendy design shops, and restaurants. Read Vogue Mexico online for “Colonia Juarez” to read more about the offerings beyond the traditional neighborhood you will stay in. We have 3 mercados within walking distance and there is very little you can’t have delivered to the door. You are in the center of everything. Easy access to Roma, Condesa, Zona Rosa, El Centro, and more. You can walk to most tourist zones from here and will have no issues getting a taxi. Because it is a traditional Mexican family building you will have the ambient noises of the city; barkers, traffic, fiestas, and more, but it is fairly quiet for the density of the city.

Our process is quite simple. Start with your application by giving as much detail as possible so we can determine how we will work with you. After we have received your application we will confirm and send it to our committee for review. Next, we will schedule a time to meet on Whatsapp or another form of communication to interview and determine a fit. If accepted you will be sent an invoice for the overall costs and be expected to pay 25% in order to hold the dates and begin the process. Depending on your needs and timing we will be working very closely up to and throughout your visit to CDMX.
